Big Band Fun...
Simon Marsh is back here again at Wiltshire Music Centre, this time with one of the South Wests leading Big Bands GBH Big Band. That's Gorgeous Big Horns Big Band to you and me. This band features some of the finest jazz musicians in the country including Simon Marsh, Nick Malcolm and Dale Hambridge. Director of GBH Big Band is the formidable trumpet player and conductor, Mike Daniels. This should be a showstopper of a gig - not to be missed!

Join the following...The Doric's Schumann: Strings Quartets is the first recording ever to be chosen as disk of the month in both Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine. |
Described by Gramophone Magazine as 'one of the finest young string quartets' the Doric String Quartet has received glowing responses from audiences and critics across the globe. Here at Wiltshire Music Centre we have a huge following for the Doric's which started 10 years ago when they were promoted by the Young Artists Fund, celebrating their 10th residency here in 2012.
Amongst their numerous awards include 1st prize at the 2008 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Japan, 2nd prize at the Premio Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition in Italy and the Ensemble Prize at the Festpiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany. The Quartet was represented by Young Concert Artists Trust (YCAT) from 2006-2010.
Highlights of their 2012/13 season have included returns to the Berlin Konzerthaus and Amsterdam Concertgebouw, as well as recitals at the Stockholm Konzerthaus and in Prague, Denmark, Norway, Poland and Israel. The Quartet will undertake its third US tour in November with concerts in Washington DC, New York State and Pennsylvania and returns later in the season for three concerts at the Vancouver Recital Society and an exciting performance at the Wigmore Hall on 28th April 2013.

Hot jazz was to be heard at Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon, with the formidable duo Jason Yarde and Andrew McCormack. They were here to jam with Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra, headed by Mike Daniels, conductor and trumpet player extraordinaire. An amazing experience for WYJO with powerful and evocative music making.

A young and talented conductor - Michael Cobb
Michael Cobb conducted a superb performance last night in London, with works by Vaughan Williams and Jonathan Dove with his new orchestra, Orchestra Vitae. It was a passionate performance from such a young conductor and we look forward to hearing about his future performances. As a talented graduate of Wiltshire & Swindon Youth Orchestra we wish him all the best for his future career.
